Oil analysis is the most cost effective method of reducing maintenance costs and improving productivity in industries which operate transport fleets, earthmoving units, processing plants, ships and aircrafts. As one would take a blood sample to determine the health of a person, WearCheck’s programme analyses oil samples. This helps the company to check for wear and oil condition in any oil-wetted compartment or oil filter found in the equipment. This then allows the company to recommend action for predictive and proactive maintenance management.

WearCheck’s major users include BHP Billiton, ABB, Barloworld,  Aggreco, MCC Plant Hire, Bell Equipment, Putco, Liebherr Africa, De Beers Consolidated Mines, Samancor, Amcoal, Amplats, SA Airlink, National Airways Corporation, Unitrans, Transnet, Aveng Group, Unicorn Lines, Afrisam and Illovo Sugar.

WearCheck’s mission is to provide quality service and the highest degree of customer care in a dynamic business environment. This quest for excellence is reflected in the company’s ISO 9001 quality registration. WearCheck is the only oil analysis company in Africa (and one of a handful worldwide) to achieve this certification.

The company is also certified to the ISO 14001 environmental management system. WearCheck has been appointed by US-based, Honeywell Aerospace as the accredited laboratory for Honeywell turbine engines in Africa. It also recieved approval from Paris-based, Bureau Veritas and UK-based Lloyds Register to carry out marine oil analysis on ships and offshore units under their control. Research and development plays a major part in WearCheck’s commitment to improving systems and technology on an ongoing basis.

As a member of WearCheck International (WCI), the company shares resources and technical information with the eight WCI member companies in Europe, North America, the United Kingdom and Australia. Continued investment in new technology has ensured that all equipment in WearCheck’s laboratories are state-of-the-art, matching or surpassing its local and international counterparts. The laboratories are integrated with the latest information technology and all laboratory instruments are connected directly to the company’s advanced computer systems. At WearCheck, oil analysis is a partnership with the client that encompasses analysis, interpretation and training.

This holistic approach to oil analysis demands superior technological standards and the highest calibre of suitably qualified and experienced staff. The company is committed to developing the skills of both employees and customers through internal advancement programmes and external technical training courses which enable customers to achieve maximum benefit from their oil analysis programme. The Divisional Managing Director of WearCheck is Neil Robinson. He is assisted by a competent and dedicated team of skilled technical staff.
