Based in Isando, Johannesburg, Set Point Laboratories was formed in 1999 by merging three established commercial laboratories. Set Point Laboratories is an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory and is registered by the National Nuclear Regulator to transport, handle and analyse uranium bearing geological samples.

The laboratory is a well established analytical chemistry laboratory specialising in geo-chemical exploration analysis, employing highly competitive scientists and analysts. Our wide range of facilities, ensures a one-stop exploration and general analytical services. Set Point Laboratories offers a range of services including the analysis of geological, water, environmental, industrial and agricultural samples, using various techniques. Our services include ICP-MS analysis down to very low levels, precious metal analysis, XRF analysis, wet chemical analysis, heavy media separation for diamond prospecting, and special techniques such as the LECO method for the analysis of carbon and sulphur. Maintaining its progressive stance, Set Point Laboratories has invested extensively in the refurbishment of the laboratory and in the latest analytical instrumental technology. We specialize in gold and platinum group elements analysis down to PPB (parts per billion)level employing ICP and ICP-MS spectrometers for this purpose. Other services include analysis using X-Ray fluorescents spectrometry for base metals and rare earth elements including uranium, thorium and associated heavy elements and identification of materials by X-Ray diffraction. As part of the growth and expansion process, the laboratory opened a branch in Mokopane, Limpopo Province in June 2003. The branch is ISO 17025 accredited and prides itself on offering efficient and appropriate sample preparation to exploration and mining companies in the area. The Divisional Managing Director of Set Point Laboratories is Kevin Gerber. He is assisted by a dedicated team of skilled and technical staff. |
